Welcome to Active Teacher Training
in partnership with Ambition Institute
We have decades of experience in teacher training. We work closely with our lead schools to deliver a quality programme that supports trainees in building strong habits and effective practices, alongside high-quality service and support to help you reach your potential as a qualified teacher.
Teaching is a vibrant, fast-paced, and exciting career and we’d love you to train with us. We'll provide you with the best possible start to a fulfilling, life-changing career.
Our friendly, experienced team work with trainees from the outset of their journey towards qualified teacher status (QTS) in order to ensure that you are in receipt of the very best advice, support, guidance and teacher training.
Your programme will include multiple placements, taught content drawn from research as well as independent study. Engaging with a broad range of contrasting school contexts, we believe challenges our trainees, to adapt their practice and equip them for a life- long career in teaching.
Alongside school placements and training sessions, where you will be supported by experienced, practising mentors, teachers and leaders who know what it takes to help teachers to keep getting better, we also provide access to a tailored professional development digital library that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. We offer PGCEs alongside and in addition to QTS in partnership with the university.
Our teacher training programme helped us to achieve 100% employment for trainees in recent years.

A great teacher changes the future every day. Especially for children who have had a tough start in life, a teacher can be the critical factor in their success. Our Teacher Training sets you on the path to becoming an excellent teacher, one who will inspire the next generation to succeed.
Our Teacher Training prioritises your relationship with, and impact on, the pupils you teach and it allows you to do most of your training in one school. You can put your academic learning into practice in a structured, step-by-step way, with your mentor and peers, before taking it live in the classroom. Your dedicated mentor will be an experienced teacher who works in your school. They will provide one-to-one guidance and support throughout your training. This will allow you to develop and refine your teaching practice with an expert, trained in the latest evidence-based learning. Our one-school training approach also gives you the opportunity to build relationships with teachers, staff, and the wider school community. By the end of your training, you’ll have the confidence to teach in a classroom on your own. You’ll also stand a great chance of securing a permanent role.
